Thomas J. Nordstrom, M.D.

Since 1978, Dr. Thomas Nordstrom has been helping people, athletes and non-athletes alike, resume their normal, active lives with extensive medical knowledge and well-honed surgical skill. He provides general orthopedic care, treats various hand, foot and ankle injuries (including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers and bunions), and sub-specializes in joint replacement of the hip and knee through arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Nordstrom has contributed his expertise to the central New Jersey area for nearly three decades. A true staple of the community, he has administered invaluable medical care to competitive athletes, especially high-school football, basketball and lacrosse players.
A former college tennis player and tennis teaching professional, Dr. Nordstrom understands the demands on an athlete’s body and focuses his treatment on optimizing return to sport. In addition to pursuing his black belt in Taekwondo, he continues to play tennis locally and in national United States Tennis Association-sanctioned tournaments for his age group. He, therefore, has a personal and professional interest in the aging athlete.
Dr. Nordstrom is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), and earned the distinguished subspecialty certification of additional qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine from ABOS. He is a Cum Laude graduate of Hobart College and received his medical degree with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Rutgers University (now Robert Wood Johnson Medical School). He completed a surgical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital and an orthopedic residency at The Hospital for Special Surgery. In 1996, he served as a volunteer physician for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and was the team physician at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center in Summer 2000. Currently, he is involved with many local, state and national medical societies.
